Create and Edit NoFA / RFP

  • If you want to create a grant without a grant solicitation, use the “New Manual Grant” button on the Grants and Activities page.

  • NoFA and RFP are used interchangeably in the documentation. DD Councils will continue to see NoFA terminology, while other types of Funding Organizations may see RFP.

  • Match fields are used only by DD Council Funding Organizations. Other types of funders will not see the Match Required, Match Amount, Match Poverty Required or the Match Poverty fields.

  1. On the dashboard, select the “NoFAs / RFPs” module.

  2. Select the “Create NoFA (RFP)” or "Create RFP" button.

  3. If your organization uses the LOI phase of grant applications, you should first answer the "LOI Phase?" question. Outlines, Sections and Attachments will look different depending on your answer.

  4. Add the information that defines your NoFA / RFP

Remember that Match fields are seen only by DD Councils. Other Funding Organizations do not use Match.

    • In the “NoFA / RFP Number” field, enter a unique solicitation number according to your council’s conventions.

    • In the “NoFA / RFP Title” field, enter the name of the solicitation.

    • In the “Due By” field, enter a due date for which the application must be submitted. You can use any standard date format (mm/dd/yyyy, etc.).

*Note: Make sure this date leaves plenty of time for you to post the NoFA / RFP and have people apply for it.

    • In the “Start Date” field, enter the date of the beginning of the grant project. You can use any standard date format (mm/dd/yyyy, etc.)

    • In the “End Date” field, enter the date of the end of the grant project. You can use any standard date format (mm/dd/yyyy, etc.)

    • In the “Amount” field, enter the amount of the solicitation in dollars.

    • In the “Match Required” dropdown menu, select whether there is a match requirement. In the “Match Amt” field, enter the recommended or required amount of applicant match.

    • In “Match Poverty Required” dropdown menu, select whether there is a match poverty requirement. In the “Match Poverty” field, enter the recommended amount of applicant match for US Census designated poverty areas.

*Note: Federal funds and other state agency funds are not considered match for this field.

    • In the “Staff Responsible” dropdown menu, select the staff member in charge of administering the solicitation.

    • In the “Group” dropdown menu, enter an existing group in your organization that is associated with this NoFA / RFP, if any.

  5. The "Select Project Sections" and "Work Plan Terminology" areas allow customization of the application and the grant.

    • Funders may select whether or not the Outline Questions, the Budget, the Work Plan and Supporting Docs are included in the NoFA / RFP, Application and Grant. If Supporting Docs is selected, that section will be provided but will not be required.

    • In the Work Plan Terminology area, Funding Organizations can customize some of your NoFA/RFP, Application, Grant and Report Work Plan fields. The terminology will default to the values set in your Administrative preferences, but you can change it here for individual NoFA/RFPs. This terminology will also be used in the Applications and Grants associated with the NoFA / RFP.

  6. You have a new option to Show/Hide the Apply Button when a Grantee is applying for a NoFA/RFP. Funding Organizations can find this in the NoFA/RFP Sections and can still use the WYSIWYG tool to add in their own link to apply.

    • This feature is in place for Funding Organizations to post their link directly into their NoFA/RFP, especially if their state requires the Grantee to go to the state procurement website.

    • When writing NoFA Sections, you are now able to hyper link to external URLs. This is great for if you wish to link applicants to any general information documents.

    • You can host these documents in your organizations cloud storage (Google Drive, SharePoint, etc.…).

      • This method ensures your NoFAs will always have the most up to date information, and you only have to make updates in one location.

    • To insert a link to an external document, simply type out hyperlink text, highlight it, and select the link icon from the WYSIWYG

      • You will get a prompt to enter the Link URL. Simply enter the URL and click the green check.

Select the “Save” button to save your progress.
